Cultivation
Prefers warmer summers than are usually experienced in Britain, trees often grow poorly in this country and fail to properly ripen their wood resulting in frost damage overwinter[3]. The seed ripens in its first year[3]. Plants grown under this name in Britain are often Q. bambusifolia, Q. glauca, Q. salicina or Q. stenophylla[3]. Intolerant of root disturbance, trees should be planted in their permanent positions whilst young[6]. Hybridizes freely with other members of the genus[3].
