Propagation
Cuttings of half-ripe wood 3 - 6cm long, July/August in a frame in a shady position. They form roots in late summer or spring[3]. A good percentage usually take. Division in spring just before new growth begins[5]. Larger clumps can be replanted direct into their permanent positions, though it is best to pot up smaller clumps and grow them on in a cold frame until they are rooting well. Plant them out in the spring.

Cultivation
This species is of unknown cold-tolerance in Britain, though it is hardy to -7°c in Australian gardens[6]. This cannot be translated directly to British gardens however, due to our cooler summers and longer, colder and wetter winters[K]. It should be worthwhile trying it out in a sheltered position in the milder areas of the country[K]. This species is closely related to G. hispida[4].
Plants in this genus are notably resistant to honey fungus[5].Crops
