Cultivation
The branches are brittle and very liable to wind damage[2]. When plants are grown in rich soils they produce coarse and rank growth which is even more liable to wind damage[7][2]. Any pruning should be done in late summer in order to reduce the risk of bleeding[2]. Plants in this genus are notably resistant to honey fungus[2]. The flowers are fragrant[8].
This species has a symbiotic relationship with certain soil bacteria, these bacteria form nodules on the roots and fix atmospheric nitrogen. Some of this nitrogen is utilized by the growing plant but some can also be used by other plants growing nearby[2].Crops
