The fresh or dried flowers, or the entire flowering herb, are cholagogue, diuretic, skin and stomachic[1][2][3]. An infusion is used in the treatment of gall bladder disorders and as a diuretic in treating rheumatism, cystitis etc[1]. A homeopathic remedy is made from the flowering plant[1]. It is used in the treatment of gall bladder disorders and lumbago[1].

Seed - sow February/March in a greenhouse. The seed usually germinates in 2 - 3 weeks at 20°c. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and grow them on in the greenhouse for at least their first winter.
