Cultivation
An easily grown plant[8], it is hardy to about -20°c[10] if it is sheltered from cold winds[7]. Plants can be pruned almost back to the base if required, they usually resprout freely[7]. The flowers are sweetly scented[12]. This species has a symbiotic relationship with certain soil bacteria, these bacteria form nodules on the roots and fix atmospheric nitrogen. Some of this nitrogen is utilized by the growing plant but some can also be used by other plants growing nearby[7].
