Cultivation
The bulbs should be planted fairly deeply[12]. This species is closely related to the Welsh onion, A. fistulosum[10]. Grows well with most plants, especially roses, carrots, beet and chamomile, but it inhibits the growth of legumes[13][11][14]. This plant is a bad companion for alfalfa, each species negatively affecting the other[15]. Cultivated for its edible bulb in Siberia, where it is used as a garlic substitute[5][3].
Members of this genus are rarely if ever troubled by browsing deer[16].Crops
