The entire plant is used in Tibetan medicine, it is said to have a bitter and astringent taste with a cooling potency[1]. Diuretic and febrifuge, it also removes any excess accumulation of body fluids[1]. It is used in the treatment of inflammation of the liver or gall bladder, seminal/vaginal discharges, oedema and disorders associated with alcoholism[1]. A decoction of the plant is used as a wash for diseased skin[2].
